BROOKE CLARK GIBSON
Picture
Hailed by Scott Cantrell of The Dallas Morning News as "a potent mezzo, impressively even from top to bottom ..." and an "impressive musical dramatist ...," mezzo-soprano Brooke Clark Gibson has garnered critical praise for her dramatic sound and vivid character portrayals in opera and concert repertoire.  Chester Rosson of Texas Monthly magazine wrote, "... Is there any role that she can’t play?"  Highlights for the 2019-2020 season include the autobiographical concert series The Moments with collaborative pianist Jimmy Emery, her Matinee Musicale Recital Series, a Southwest and Midwest recital series Let’s Dance,  Viva Vivaldi and Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 soloist with the Brookhaven Choral Society, solo appearances at DFW churches across the Metroplex, and more. Additionally, she is excited to return as Stage Director for Lovers Lane United Methodist Church’s performances of the one-act opera Amahl and the Night Visitors. In February of 2020, Ms. Clark Gibson will complete the premiere recording of American composer Robert Gross’ one-act opera Dissonance (the role of Tricia specifically composed for Ms. Clark Gibson’s voice).

A frequent recitalist and concert artist, Ms. Clark Gibson takes great joy in curating programs of an autobiographical nature. She is an earnest champion of composers and new works. She has premiered composer Shawn Okpebholo's arrangement He's Got the Whole World in His Hands, composer Robert Gross’ work The Gift Wrap and the Jewel in addition to his settings of St. Vincent Millay’s poetry, Blind Labyrinth's Synaesthete's Night Out At The Café, Simon Sargon’s Patterns in Blue (Voces Intimae), and collaborated with Pulitzer Prize nominated composer Gregory Sullivan Isaacs (TheaterJones.com) for the opera The Yellow Rose of Texas (the title role specifically composed for her voice), among others. Her extensive repertoire ranges from Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) to Charlotte (A Little Night Music) to Verdi’s Requiem and the dramatically orchestrated songs of Sibelius.

Ms. Clark Gibson has performed as a guest artist with such companies/arts organizations as the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, Plano Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Opera, Amarillo Opera, Opera North, Opera in the Heights (Houston), The Dallas Bach Society, Camerata Dallas Young Soloists Orchestra, Carmel Symphony Orchestra, Meadows Symphony Orchestra, Voces Intimae, Dallas Puccini Society, Lyric Stage (Irving), The Living Opera, Intimate Opera, Brevard Music Festival, among others. A frequent guest soloist at churches across the DFW Metroplex and the Midwest, Ms. Clark Gibson currently serves as Vocal Coach at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, having just completed two years on the Independent Voice Faculty of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (where she also served as Voice Coordinator during her second year). She maintains an active performance career, a full private voice studio, and continues to professionally stage direct. A member of the Dallas Bach Society and a proud member of NATS, Ms. Clark Gibson received her Bachelor of Music in Voice with Honors from Butler University (Indpls., IN), and Master of Music in Voice from Southern Methodist University. She resides in Dallas with her husband, baritone Brandon Gibson and their daughter, Lily Grace.
